Commercial disclosure
Who pays for what, and what that buys
No property pays for inclusion, for its tier, for its shelf or for a word of its entry. There is no paid placement of any kind in the register.
Where a link earns a commission, it is marked. Commission never affects whether a property is recorded, what tier it holds, or what the entry says about it.
Editorial judgement and commercial arrangements are kept apart in the working files as well as on the page: an entry is written from its sources before any commercial relationship is considered.
Where the publisher has stayed at a property as a guest of the house, the record says so.
