Corrections policy
What happens when we are wrong
Errors are corrected forward, not erased. A correction is dated and the earlier statement stays visible, because a register that silently rewrites itself cannot be checked.
Anyone may report an error: guests, agents, and the properties themselves. A property's own correction is published as the property's correction, which is a stronger fact than our research and is labelled as such rather than merged into it.
A property that declines to answer is recorded no differently from one that never received the question. The difference appears only in what the page can say it has confirmed.
Where a property has changed hands, name or operator and we learned it from a third party, the record says so and carries the disagreement until the house confirms.
