Fiji

9 resorts in Fiji, 1 of them written in full. The register holds 8 in Island & Coastal Hideaway, 1 in Country, Mountain, Lake & Desert Retreat.

9 records, one written, and the country where the thing guests come for usually lies outside the boundary.

Kokomo owns a hundred and forty acres of Yaukuve Levu outright and gives five and a half of them to a working farm that feeds the kitchens — a real share of a small island, and a decision about what ground is for. But the Great Astrolabe Reef that rings it belongs to the villages of Kadavu, who fish it and live along it, and the resort's marine work is done on their shores as much as its own.

That relationship recurs across the country: Fijian land and reef tenure is customary and communal over much of the archipelago, and a resort's lease is usually a lease from a community rather than a purchase from an owner. No card in this register has yet had to state those terms, and they should be asked for rather than assumed.
